Hi everyone, I'm a new dad, and a new mom to many. Today I'd like to share our experience at a postpartum care center in Los Angeles. I've been busy taking care of the baby, but now I finally have time to organize these experiences, hoping to provide some reference for other moms and dads planning similar situations.

    Choosing a Location 🌆

Many new parents traveling to the US choose areas with large Chinese communities, mainly because of the convenience and similar shopping options to those in China. We thought the same way. I had lived in California for a while and was familiar with several cities, so we focused on maternity centers in Acadia, Rowland Heights, and Irvine. We also asked some friends for recommendations. Our main considerations were the distance to hospitals and clinics, the transportation services offered by the maternity center, and the surrounding living environment.

    Budget Planning 💰

How to determine a budget? Honestly, I didn't have much of a concept either. Initially, I just selected a few postpartum care centers in several areas and inquired about their prices. Combining my needs and financial situation, and comparing various factors, I finally narrowed down my budget. High-end postpartum care centers in Irvine are quite expensive, and Arcadia has a good location but is also pricey.

    Making a Decision 🎯

The postpartum period is generally three months, so it's best to choose a postpartum care center a month in advance. Choose a suitable package based on the number of people traveling, including room type, meals, transportation, and travel needs. Of course, the most important thing is the baby's safety and health. Therefore, within your budget, I suggest prioritizing the living environment and distance to medical facilities.

    Signing the Agreement 📝

Maternity centers in the US are quite different from those in China. They're mostly run by Chinese people and don't have official business registration. Agreements are signed based on personal guarantees. A deposit of around 10% is usually required upfront. Initially, I was a little worried about being scammed, but since I'd made the choice, I had to move forward. As it turned out, my worries were unnecessary.

That's all for today. I'll share more about the entire process later, from departure from China, airport pickup, postpartum care, choosing a postpartum nanny, activities at the maternity center, obtaining the necessary documents, to returning home. Leave a comment if you're interested! My sharing is 100% based on my personal experience.
